Where to eat in Puerto Plata?

Dominican cuisine focuses on seafood, rice, beans and meat, but Puerto Plata itself is an international destination hosting a large number of cuisines from the world over. A little determination of the customary Dominican dishes you may experience incorporate Mangu -- a dish of squashed plantains and browned onions served with meat or eggs; Sancocho -- the national dish of meat and vegetable stew; Moro -- rice dish with red kidney beans; Pescado con coco -- local fish in coconut milk; Cangrejo Guisado -- a dish of herbs and marinated crab.

Many of the resorts on the Puerto Plata beaches are comprehensive destinations that will accommodate dinners, but for the traveler who needs to wander from the resorts, there are various alternatives. Cofresi, Playa Dorada Plaza and Puerto Plata are home to various restaurants prominent with the locals and people who need to blend with the locals. Around 30 minutes outside of Playa Dorada is Cabarete, whose restaurants have a tendency to be more well known with tourists to the area.

Seafood buffs will appreciate the expansive portions of lobster served up at Le Papillon in Cofresi. There is also the new Poseidon Restaurant, which is part of the Ocean World complex -- particular on international cuisine, specially seafood.

In the Playa Dorada resort area, Hemingway's blends supper with nightlife, offering sensibly priced dinners during the day and opening up into a dance club in the nighttimes. On El Malecon in Puerto Plata city, Aquaceros Bar and Grill is a local most loved offering Mexican food, rum punch and Merengue music at night hours.
