Anyone who's ever been to New Orleans is a witness to the city's vibrant and unique character. Mardi Gras on Bourbon Street, live street (jazz) music, Po-Boys, old French Quarter apartments, tons of souvenir shops, beignets with good ol' Cafe du Monde, and residents who just seem to know tourists like the back of their hands... They didn't call New Orleans "The Big Easy" for nothing. You go to New Orleans and you just sense that difference. Apart, of course, from the fickle humid weather where a drizzle comes and goes when it feels like it.

It's not the ultimate destination for everybody. But if you're stopping by while taking a road trip from anywhere in the US or traveling purposely just to check out the city, New Orleans is a place not to be ignored. Get a drink or two (preferably hand grenades), walk the streets, and bring home a voodoo doll or a Mardi Gras mask. And don't lose your shirt at Harrah's!
